Up next I’m continuing my read through of the Pocket #StarTrek novels with Ex Machina (2004) by Christopher L. Bennett #bookstodon
Finished Vulcan’s Soul, Book III: Epiphany (2007) by Josepha Sherman and Susan Shwartz and I did enjoy this one more than the first two books in the trilogy, but still had some issues. The novel centers around the consequences to the Romulan Empire after the Dominion War of the threat of a dangerous species. 1/5 #StarTrek #bookstodon
Jumped into this and never did an #introductions / #introduction post.
I'm Gareth, I'm in Victoria, Australia.
Twitter was one of my main social outlets, and with that going down the plughole I'm hoping to have some connections here. I'm a little bit socially anxious and not good at being outgoing or interacting with people in the physical world.
I enjoy a #roadtrip, I've been to all the states / territories by road except the Northern Territory (it's on my to do list).
I like #writing, and try to #write. But if I'm honest these past few years have been hard on the creativity. I did find for a time listening to #synthwave did help my creativity process a bit.
Writing wise it's mostly blogs from road trips, other experiences, the occasional long form research and #fanfiction which is the bulk of my long form fiction-based writing. Do have one or two other original fiction pieces which I've been working on for years and not getting anywhere.

Finished Vulcan’s Soul, Book II: Exiles (2006) by Josepha Sherman and Susan Shwartz and as with the first book in the trilogy, I had some significant issues with it. The novel centers around the continuing consequences of an attack by a dangerous species on a Romulan colony after the Dominion War. 1/5 #StarTrek #StarTrekTOS #bookstodon

Some people like to put fancy letters after their names, so I thought I'd do the same.

We're preparing to hopefully start a new plot soon, which means now's the time to join us if you're interested in writing a character on our quirky little intelligence ship. We're set in 2417 in an AU of the prime timeline, and we're going to be doing a timeloop plot this time!

Finished The Case of the Colonist’s Corpse (2004) by Bob Ingersoll and Tony Isabella and I have mixed feelings about it. The novel is about a murder case where Sam Cogley is brought in to defend a Klingon.
I’ll start with what I liked. Cogley is a character I really enjoy from the #StarTrekTOS episode Court Martial. He loves books in an age of computers and is a brilliant lawyer and that’s on full display here. 1/6 #StarTrek #bookstodon

Finished Daedalus’s Children (2004) by Dave Stern and I have mixed feelings about it. The novel is the conclusion of a duology about an experimental vessel that exploded 13 years before that’s now affecting the crew of Enterprise.
I really enjoyed the first book in this duology, Daedalus (2003), and so I anticipated this one. I’ll start with what I liked. 1/5 #StarTrekENT #StarTrek #bookstodon

In my quest to read every official #StarTrek novel, novella, and short story collection ever published, I now have only 25 left (out of more than 800) and here they are! #bookstodon
Finished Do Comets Dream? (2003) by S.P. Somtow and I absolutely loved it and this is now a favorite #StarTrekTNG novel! The book is about a comet that seems to be fulfilling a prophecy for a planet’s 5000 year cycle of destruction and creation.
I don’t often do this, but I want to start by praising the structure of the book. It’s split into multiple parts with each part starting with Picard reading excerpts of a report on the planet that’s the focus of the book. 1/9 #StarTrek #bookstodon
Who are you calling a nerd?
#StarTrekSection31 - this movie has gotten a number of bad reviews, but this isn’t one of them because I loved it!
Michelle Yeoh is fantastic, the new characters are a ton of fun, and there’s a very compelling subplot alongside a great story that had some things that surprised me in a good way. My one criticism is that it dragged a bit in the middle, but overall I enjoyed this movie a lot! #StarTrek

Finished Gemini (2003) by Mike W. Barr and I enjoyed it but had a few issues. The book focuses on a planet with conjoined twins as rulers that’s divided by the decision of whether or not to join the Federation.
I really liked the focus on the conjoined twins. That’s something rarely (if ever?) seen elsewhere in Trek and it made for an interesting exploration of what that experience might be like and how each twin is similar and different. 1/5 #StarTrekTOS #StarTrek #bookstodon
The @aussocialadmin suggested I write an #introduction post so why not he says.
I'm Peter from #Brisbane where The Cat runs the household. A pretty wide range of interests and always keen to learn new stuff.
A life long #doctorwho fan, I love most things #scifi but firmly in the #startrek camp when it comes to Star Trek Vs Star Wars.
Probably have too many subscriptions to streaming channels but have a goal of a minimum 26 books a year to make sure I'm not always staring at a screen.
Other things I find interesting are a good #podcast #food #sustainability #film #wine (love a good pinot noir), hunting down a great gin and cocktail, and '80s music.
I tell people the main reason I go to work is so I can go on holidays as I love to #travel

Finished The Last Roundup (2003) by Christie Golden and I really enjoyed it! The book serves as a bridge between Star Trek VI and Generations with a story focused on a new colony. 1/7 #StarTrekTOS #StarTrek #bookstodon

Finished Stargazer: Maker (2004) by Michael Jan Friedman and I have mixed feelings about it. The book centers on a dangerous superbeing menacing the galaxy.
I’ll start with what I liked. The novel is a sequel to a previous Stargazer book called The Valiant in which two species were introduced that are important here - the Magnians and the Nuyyad. 1/5 #StarTrek #bookstodon
